On June 6th 2012 the planet Venus transited in front of the Sun. Western Australia was jinxed with very poor weather for the event, but I managed to find a glimpse of sunlight 8 hours drive south-east of Perth at Lucky Bay near Esperance on the south coast.
The spectacular location made for some spectacular photography of the Transit of Venus, and for a very enjoyable trip overall. Read more about the Transit of Venus at my Astro Photography Australia blog where you can buy prints of the transit
