ACrux (Alpha Crux)

Click image above to view full size
This image shows the very bright Alpha Crux, one of the stars of the Southern Cross and a surrounding star field. The field of view is relatively narrow, having been taken at a focal length of about 480mm with a DSLR. This results in many pinpoint stars across the FOV and a few patches of dark nebulosity. The exposure time for this image is relatively short, but the detail is surprising and clear for such limited exposure time as 10 minutes total.
