The Moon

This gallery contains photographs of The Moon.
Moon, Venus and Jupiter Smiley Face
Pictures of the grouping of the cresent moon, Venus and Jupiter, forming a smiley face.
Lunar Eclipse: August 2007
This gallery contains images of the August 28th 2007 Total Lunar Eclipse.
The Moon (8th April 2006)
This is a 4 image composite of the moon. Shot at F/10 on the LX200 it's in theory slightly higher resolution than the other recent shot I took on the 8th March 2006, however the good worse viewing conditions this time around have resulted in an image much the same.

In this small view of the original (97mb in this case) you won't be able to distinguish any great difference in quality.
The Moon (8th March 2006)
The Moon, my first lunar shot with the 350d. Very impressed with the results. The full sized image has much more detail than this smaller version even, but that's 28mb so I haven't put it here.

This image is available for purchase at Astro Photography Australia as photographic prints up to 50 cm wide!
The Moon - 3/4
This is a 4 image composite each of the result of stacking about 20 frames selected from about 40. All 4 were shot through a medium density layer of hazy cloud, but that hasn't appeared to have much impact at this resolution.

This image is available for purchase at Astro Photography Australia in a variety of formats:
- On a quality
The Moon - FLT 110 (1)
Stacked using Registax 3, quite nice detail and contrast. Extremely turbulent atmosphere due to various layers of different cloud types sweeping across.
The Moon - FLT 110 (2)
Stacked using Registax 3. A fairly interesting area of the moon with the flat sweeping area dotted with a few small craters and an interesting fault/valley. It is a shame the bright crater was catching the sun so much it over exposed slightly. Extremely turbulent atmosphere due to various layers of different cloud types sweeping across.
The Moon - FLT 110 (3)
Probably the nicest shot from the 15th, this has very nice sharp detail. Surprising considering the conditions. Stacked using Registax 3. Extremely turbulent atmosphere due to various layers of different cloud types sweeping across.
The Moon - FLT 110 (4)
Another from the 15th. This one shows lots of surface detail, many small and larger craters.
The Moon - Half
A film shot taken with the camera held up to the eyepiece. Not bad for such a technique!
The Moon - Half, closer
A film shot taken with the camera held up to the eyepiece. Not bad for such a technique! This image is closer than the previous, nicely framed.
The Moon - Half, closer yet
A film shot taken with the camera held up to the eyepiece. This shot shows quite nice surface detail, especially considering the technique and film used.
The Moon - Closeup
A closeup view of the moon during full daylight. Wouldn't have guessed it's day time you would? A little colour and levels correction on the stacked image produces a night time like image.
Lunar Eclipse: May 2004
This was a total lunar eclipse, producing great rich red images of the moon.
Lunar Eclipse: October 2005
The October 2005 Lunar Eclipse was only partial from Perth, and we only cought the tail end of it (me even less so due to work and location).
