Mercury Transit - 1
Taken during the Transit of Mercury in 2005, this image shows the planet Mercury near the edge of the Sun about 30 minutes before it crossed over the edge of the sun.

This image is taken with a H-alpha filter, so some of the texture visible through such a filter is shown on the surface of the sun.
Mercury Transit - 2
Taken near the very end of the Transit of Mercury this image shows the planet Mercury very close to the edge of the Sun.

Unfortunately this image has relatively few frames used in the stacking so detail is not particularly good.
Mercury Transit - White 1
Taken a good hour or so from the end of the Transit of Mercury this image shows the planet Mercury in the same frame as a large sunspot to the right.
