On the 19th May 2007 I and a bunch of fellow amateur astronomers made the jouney to Kokerbin Rock in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia. This is a regular (almost monthly) observing location for many of us.
The weather wasn't looking too promising with clouds all day and into twilight. Luckily it did clear up with about 70% of the night being clear with good long clear spells. The viewing was relatively steady and good considering all, allowing for great view of Jupiter at times.
I attempted my usual swag of astro photo's but was taking a more casual aproach to it, after havinga slow start due to the cloud. I wasn't so particular about focus and guiding so the results aren't perfect, but better than nothing!
As much as anything I enjoy travelling to Kokerbin just for the relaxed atmosphere and general camping experience. As such we had our usual winter wood fire and I cooked my damper as I enjoy doing. The damper turned out surprisingly well this time! I guessed the quantites pretty good it seems :-) The fire kept us warm while we waited for the clouds to clear.
It did actually rain a little sometime between 2am and 7am, but then cleared up in time for us to do some solar viewing before departing in the morning back to Perth.
Telescopes present included my William Optics Megrez 80, Skywatcher guidescope, and then a 15" Obsession dobsonian, WO 110 and Orion 8" dobsonian telescope.
