This gallery contains photographs of the Hubble Deep Field (South) field of view, taken by an amateur astronomer (Roger Groom).
This is a project that I embarked upon in 2006, to see what I as an amateur astronomer could see in the field of view photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope, and referred to as the Hubble Deep Field South. Information on my project can be found here
Hubble Deep Field South
The Hubble Deep Field South, as taken by an amateur astronomer. This image comprises of relatively long 20 minute and 40 minute exposures. Taken from a suburban back yard with a medium level of light pollution.
Many objects are clearly visible within the FOV, with my estimate being a total of 30 non-stellar objects distinguishable from background noise. About 15 of these being easily distinguishable.
This was a relatively long running project, taking July, August and September
HDF-S: First
The Hubble Deep Field South (HDF-S). This is my first ever image of the area containing the HDF-S FOV. This image is not reduced or processed in any way.
This is a web site about photography, amateur astronomy, astrophotography, general amateur astronomy and telescope information, by Roger Groom based in Western Australia. Photography is copyright, see copyright info
