Milky Way taken with AstroTrac

This is the second ever image taken using my new AstroTrac, it's of the centre of the Milky Way when almost at Zenith.

Being only the second set of images taken with my AstroTrac it is early days, but first impressions are that the setup is very capable. These 3 minute exposures had no trailing, and that was after a polar alignment which only involved using the bubble level, altitude readings on the wedge and compass for pointing south. Longer focal length and longer exposure images in the future will test the capabilities more strenuously.

I was having a frustrating time with the ball-head mount I was using to mount the camera on the AT and a such there are some trees in the shot in the bottom left. I have a new ball mount coming with a new tripod shortly so that should soon be resolved.

Taken in my back yard in Perth there are some light pollution issues in the photograph, and being only the second shot, with a soft focus and room to improve, I haven't spent the time removing the light pollution gradient.

Here is a link to a JPG of a raw single exposure.
